About the Advanced Hands-on Assist Training
In this 25-hour training, led by Valery and Nush, we'll explore how to use touch in a thoughtful and supportive way, combining hands-on assist techniques, anatomy, and elements of Zen Thai Shiatsu.
We'll work with both foundational and advanced yoga postures, learn how to adapt assists to different bodies, and explore when and how touch can be helpful.
An essential part of the training will be Zen Thai–inspired bodywork (Level 1). Zen Thai Shiatsu is a technique, that blends Thai yoga massage, Osteopathy and Chinese Medicine. A holistic approach to touch that allows us to gain more understanding on how to assist with deep awareness.

What you’ll learn
In this course, you’ll learn key assist techniques for foundational and advanced postures, while cultivating the inner trust needed to support others. We believe that most of this work is done by observing and listening carefully. When do I assist? When do I not?
Throughout the three days, we'll cover different aspects of hands-on assisting, with a strong focus on practical learning.
Hands-on assists for foundational + advanced postures: Explore different techniques for standing poses, twists, forward folds, backbends, arm balances, and inversions.
Anatomy + body awareness: Learn more about the spine, mobility and stability, and how this knowledge can help you give more informed assists.
Zen Thai Shiatsu: Learn a short Zen Thai–inspired bodywork sequence and explore how to bring elements of this practice into your yoga teaching.
Body reading + individual adjustments: Learn to observe different bodies and adapt your assists to individual needs.
Ethics + consent: Understand the importance of communication, boundaries, and consent when working with touch.
We'll spend a lot of time practicing on each other, giving and receiving feedback, and exploring what makes an assist feel good.
